Venancio Salar came in to El Centro de Ayuda looking for housing assistance. Venancio is retired from a career in mechanics and has been living in his apartment in Hollywood for over 15 years. Since retirement, he has been on a strict budget and with no family support locally, he faces heavy monthly housing costs leaving him with not enough money left over for food, healthcare, transportation and other necessities.

Our Case manager discussed with Venancio his budget, housing needs/interest and was able to assist him in applying to Telacu Marisol apartment. TELACU Vista Del Sol is a 99-unit senior, low income apartment community that had a space available in July. Venancio received a housing interview shortly after submiing his application and was offered the apartment; saving him over $500 a month in rent. Venancio is now working with his case manager in preparing for the move and establishing relationships in the new community he is going to call home.
