Mission & Vision

Welcome to El Centro de Ayuda, a grass root non-profit organization located in Boyle Heights community. Our mission is to promote social, emotional, academic and economic self-sufficiency, through a continuum of human services.

El Centro de Ayuda was established in 1981 as El Centro Abuse Treatment Center (SATC) under the corporate umbrella of El Centro Human Services and incorporated in 1996 as El Centro de Ayuda (ECDA). ECDA has over thirty years of experience in providing a wide array of human services to low income families residing in the East/Northeast Los Angeles Area.

Our Logo represents Growth, Nurturance and Balance. It also acknowledges the Indigenous Roots of the Latino Community. Yum Kaz, the Aztec Lord of Harvest, was chosen for his symbolism of Growth. Calli, the Aztec representation of the home, is the Center of Existence for all the people. Four sprouting ears of corn, a refuge of nurturance, represent the four directions of the Aztec Calendar which symbolizes balance.
